An international exhibition. A celebration of contemporary collage.

The title „elementary particles“ indicates the smallest components of matter. From the perspective of the physics, they are specific  elements that generate motion in fields of bodies.

Applying this concept to collage, it turns out that this is composed of small components, cutouts or shapes, each of which may seem insignificant on their own, but which, by the hand of the artist, join together to form a new work with new reading possibilities and forms unexpected stories. Based on this principle, each artist develops her own style and language.

The exhibition „Elementary Particles“ focuses on 13 international artists, their visions and their personal approach to collages.

They are the following artists:

// Eugenia Conde – Argentina // Arianne Cristiel – Spain // Olivia Descampe – Belgium // Rhed Fawell – GB // Clare Fischer – GB // Susanna Lakner – Hungary // Lane – Greece // Susan Lerner – USA // Olga Lupi – Belgium // Marisa Maestre – Spain // Maria Elisa Quiaro – Venezuela // Isabel Reitemeyer – Germany // Sabine Remy – Germany

For the first time in this compilation, more than 50 works show a wide variety of aesthetic approaches and directions within the collage’s themed field.

The aim of the exhibition is to make the art of collage known beyond national and individual borders, as well as to show the diversity of female contemporary collage art and its different approaches and working techniques.

Each artist has her own way of approaching the collage and creates unique works. Each artists explore unusual aspects of reality beyond the cultural mainstream.
